What to keep and photograph
- Take photos or video of damage before you clean up.
- Keep receipts for repairs, hotels and food.
- Report damage to your insurance company and your landlord in writing.
Scams to watch for
- Anyone who asks you to pay a fee to get FEMA help.
- A contractor who wants all the money up front.
- A stranger who asks for your bank login or a gift card.
- Real inspectors carry ID and never charge you.
Practice spotting these in our Banking and Tax Scams lab.

My Plan (Print)
Type what you like, or leave blanks to write by hand. Nothing is saved. Printing uses what is on this page right now.
Tip: pick your state in Part 3 first, and its agency will be added to your printout. Tick off your kit in Lesson 3 and it will print too.
