Our goal
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. We check our pages for readable color contrast, clear headings, labeled buttons, large tap targets, and use with a keyboard. Our guides, labs and tools that have a lot to read have a Listen button. We are always improving, and we want to hear about anything that is hard to use.
What we have built in
- Larger or smaller text. Many labs and tools have A+ and A- buttons at the top of the page.
- Read aloud. Our guides, labs and tools that have a lot to read have a Listen button that reads the page to you.
- Big, easy buttons. Buttons and links are made large enough to tap with a finger.
- Keyboard use. You can move through pages with the Tab key, and a "Skip to main content" link is the first thing a keyboard user reaches on most pages.
- Clear colors. We use light text on a dark background, and we check the contrast.
- Less motion. If your device is set to reduce motion, our pages move less.
- A pause before you leave. If a link goes to another website, we ask first, so you do not leave by accident.
- Private by design. No accounts, no tracking, and nothing you type in our labs is saved or sent.
Tips from your own device
- Make everything bigger: on a phone, use your Display and Text Size settings. On a computer, hold Ctrl (or Command on a Mac) and press the plus key.
- Have your device read to you: iPhone has Speak Screen and VoiceOver. Android has TalkBack and Select to Speak. Windows has Narrator, and Mac has VoiceOver.
- Talk instead of typing: the microphone button on your phone keyboard types what you say.
Tell us about a problem
If something on this site is hard to read, hard to tap, or does not work with the tools you use, please tell us. Say which page it was and what happened, and we will work on it.
